ALJH Sports
Athletics are an exciting part of student life at Alta Loma Junior High, providing opportunities for students to build teamwork, leadership, sportsmanship, and school spirit while representing our school in competition. We encourage all students who are interested in athletics to attend an interest meeting, learn about the program, and participate in the tryout process.
ALJH is a proud member of the Baldy View League, competing alongside Vineyard Junior High, Upland Junior High, Pioneer Junior High, Foothill Knolls STEM Academy, and Grace Yokley Middle School.

Tryouts & Participation
Students interested in participating in athletics should attend the interest meeting held a few weeks before each season begins. Interest meetings, important dates, and upcoming opportunities are announced through:
Morning announcements

The weekly Friday Wrap-Up for families
Athletic participation packets will be available for pickup at the Student Window before each season. Students must submit a completed packet by the posted deadline in order to be eligible for tryouts. A new athletic packet is required for each sport and each season.
Tryouts are held prior to each season and provide coaches the opportunity to evaluate student-athletes, assess skill levels, and determine team placement. This process helps coaches build balanced teams, identify areas for growth, and prepare students for a successful season. Depending on the sport and the number of students participating, tryouts may also be used to determine final team rosters.
Practice schedules, game schedules, and other season updates will be shared during the interest meeting and communicated throughout the season. Families can also find schedules and updates through the school calendar, social media, and other school communication channels.
Athletic Eligibility
Participation in athletics is a privilege, and students must remain academically and behaviorally eligible throughout the season. To participate, students must:
Maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA
Not be on the school's Restricted List
Have no failing grades (F), Unsatisfactory (U) citizenship marks, or major disciplinary consequences (such as OMCs or suspensions) that would make them ineligible
Eligibility is reviewed in accordance with school and district guidelines.
Transportation
Transportation to and from games is the responsibility of each family. Practices take place on campus immediately after school, and students must either be picked up promptly at the end of practice or walk home following practice. Bus transportation is not provided for athletic events.
