Counseling Services

The Alta Loma School District believes that students are most successful when they feel safe, supported, and connected at school. Our Counseling Services program is dedicated to promoting the social, emotional, behavioral, and menta well-being of every student so they are prepared to learn, grow, and thrive.

Our counselors work collaboratively with students, families, teachers, administrators, and community partners to provide a comprehensive system of support that addresses students' academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs. Through prevention, early intervention, and responsive services, we strive to remove barriers to learning and help every student reach their full potential.

Counseling services may include:

  • Individual and small group counseling

  • Social-emotional learning and skill development

  • Crisis response and short-term intervention

  • Conflict resolution and peer relationship support

  • Behavioral and emotional support

  • Referrals to school and community-based mental health resources

  • Collaboration with families, teachers, and outside agencies

  • Participation in student support teams and Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS)

Our counselors are active members of each school's support team and collaborate with staff to foster positive school climates, strengthen student connectedness, and promote overall wellness. They also assist with identifying students who may benefit from additional interventions and coordinate services to ensure students receive the support they need and provide a multi-tiered system of support for all students. (MTSS)

For students with disabilities, counseling services may be provided as a related service through the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process when determined appropriate by the IEP team.

The Alta Loma School District recognizes that students' social and emotional well-being is essential to their academic success. By partnering with families and the community, we are committed to creating supportive learning environments where every student feels valued, respected, and empowered to succeed. Additionally, to support an effective MTSS, our school counselors work with staff to implement Positive Behavior, Intervention and Supports (PBIS) and Character Strong at all of our elementary and junior high schools.

Alta Loma School District is dedicated to ensuring that every student has access to a safe, supportive, and caring learning environment where they feel connected, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential. Families seeking counseling support or additional mental health resources are encouraged to contact their child's school or the District Student Services Department for assistance.
